Ah, the kiss. I have always been a bit of a romanic and definitely love to kiss. It is funny though, sometimes you can have two people who are great kissers, but when they kiss, hmm, it is just not good. Yet most of us know there are times when you have kissed, that someone, and wow, the kissing is amazing, transforming and dare I say delicious.
The most common definition I found was; a kiss, is the touch or pressing of one’s lips against another person. Whether we call it kissing, snogging, smooching or necking, almost everyone has done it or will. Although, apparently about 10% of the earth’s population does not partake, for various reasons.
Depending on culture and context, a kiss can express sentiments of love, passion, romance, sexual attraction, affection, respect and greetings. In some situations a kiss is a ritual, formal or symbolic, a gesture of devotion and respect. “So they sealed it with a kiss.”
As a photographer, I have seen many a kiss. So on this eve of Valentine’s Day, I hope you will all, have someone to kiss, or remember a kiss, or perhaps, you will have your first kiss.
Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone.
There is that moment, that anticipation just before, the kiss.
It begins with a thought of a kiss, a question, “will they kiss me?” and then you surrender. It may be a soft kiss on the cheek, the neck or the shoulder. Some are subtle, understated but without a doubt a connection is created.
We get kisses from our almost sister-in-laws, from our children, from fathers and mothers and even kisses, which are much more like nibbles, from our uncles.
We have the rehearsal kiss and all the comedy in between, followed by the kiss, the kiss that can take your breath away.
I know you should enjoy the kiss, the moment and let yourself surrender to one of the simplest yet most complex delights we can have.
Thank you to the kissing couples….
